JOHTO

Back when I was quite young, I was fascinated with pokemon. Even before I had my first game, I was collecting cards and looking over my cousins' shoulders as they played through Diamond and Pearl. When I was around 7, I got my very first console, ye olde DSi, along with my first pokemon game, Pokemon SoulSilver. Though this game is technically a generation 4 game, Generation 2's Johto has a special place in my heart, as it is where I began my adventure.

I started my first Pokemon adventure out with a cyndaquil, a pokemon that I traded off to my cousin in exchange for an Arceus (which is a ridiculous trade lmao). Through this Arceus I gained access to the Ruins of Alph event, which in turn gave me my unofficial starter for SoulSilver, Giratina. After completing the game, I lost my Giratina in a "trading mishap" between me and my cousins, thus wiping my very first (& very unoffical) pokemon starter from existance :(.

Though that Giratina is long gone, my love for Pokemon has continued since that day, and I continue to play new releases and replay older games today!

Faves

  • Following Pokemon. Easily.
  • Two regions to explore (great postgame)
  • Fun easter eggs from other games
  • Really nice starter trio
  • Battle Frontier in SoulSilver
  • Johto designs are great. Ily ampharos.

Gripes

  • Because it's a pretty accurate remake, pokemon from other gens are easy to find outside of trade (in HGSS)
  • Pokeathlon announcer bullied me
  • Don't care for apricorns
  • Plot? What plot?
  • lost my pokewalker
